American artist Manuel Peinado III documents his family’s immigrant experience. He paints from slides his father shot and, upon his death, passed down. Peinado’s acrylic painting techniques and composition provide a viewfinder perspective of a family finding their way in Oakland, CA circa 1970. Peinado received a BFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA, resides in Oakland, paints from his art studio in Berkeley, and has called the Bay Area home since birth. |
